The Phoenix Suns organization has encountered countless struggles in recent seasons with Devin Booker serving as the lone silver lining through it all. After failing to snag the final seat in the 2019-2020 NBA Playoffs, there are rumors that the incoming sixth-year guard finally wants out of the desert to seek greener pastures elsewhere.

“Per Ryen Russillo on The Bill Simmons Podcast(starts at 68:00 mark), it's “the worst kept secret” in the NBA that Booker wants to leave the Suns.”

Ever since being selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, huge responsibilities were already put on the shoulders of Booker right from the get-go. The team failed to function as a unit but the former Kentucky Wildcat managed to hit his strides as one of the best up-and-coming players in the league. He was eventually rewarded with a lucrative five-year, $158 million maximum contract extension with the Suns back in July of 2018.

After securing the bag in the offseason, Devin Booker and the rest of the Suns had a stroke of bad luck and their struggles eventually hit rock bottom where they tallied a 19-63 overall record to nab the 15th spot in the stacked Western Conference.

They were able to bounce back and took a leap in the 2019-2020 season where they finished with a 34-39 standing to account for the 10th seed. Despite having a string of undefeated games inside the Orlando Bubble, the Suns still narrowly lost on the eight and final playoff seat which went to the way of the Portland Trail Blazers.

The 24-year-old continues to scorch the league with career-best norms of 26.6 points along with 4.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game through 70 games played last season. Devin Booker may have attained individual success while playing for the Suns but it is undeniable that he needs to explore his options if he wants to give himself a chance to win a championship in his career.

Last month, Booker sold his Arizona home for $3.45 million.
