“Dame Time” has become one of the most entertaining spectacles in the NBA over the last handful of years. When Damian Lillard locks in during crunch time and finds his rhythm, it often times means curtains for the opposition.

On Team USA, there are plenty of closers on the roster including the likes of Lillard, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and others. So when Damian Lillard has found himself on the sideline during crunch time at the Tokyo Olympics in some games, it led many to wonder what he thinks about it. Via Joe Vardon of The Athletic, those answers have now been provided.

“We’re here for one thing and that’s to win a gold medal,” Lillard said, when asked about the strange circumstance in which he finds himself. “I don’t think any of us come here with the mentality that we got to just dominate every game or score a bunch of points. We’re trying to win the game so we’re going to roll with whatever is working. And that’s that. I think we all understand that.”

Team USA will have a chance for gold when they play France in the gold medal match in men's basketball. Even if Damian Lillard isn't in for those crunch time minutes, the goal is just to win. And he has been a crucial part of the success for the squad in Tokyo despite sitting out at the end of some of the contests.

Who knows, maybe Dame Time will be activated and needed against France?
