Popular Japanese fighting game TEKKEN is making the jump from video game realm to the small screen. Long-time fans will soon be able to witness the story of Jin Kazama come to life when TEKKEN: Bloodline premieres on Netflix in the near future — but for now, enjoy this newly released teaser for the upcoming animated series based on one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time.

TEKKEN: Bloodline – Netflix Teaser Premiere

In the main video game series, which largely ran on the PlayStation platform, TEKKEN revolves around the King of Iron Fist Tournament, and players get to pick from a selection of characters and fighters to duke it out — not only for the glory of winning the tournament, but to gain control of the Mishima Zaibatsu (a conglomerate company).

Gameplay is all about hand-to-hand, ground-based combat, including all sorts of kicks, punches, blocks, and throws. The latter games have also introduced combo moves and special abilities, including even breaking the arenas, complete with 3D animations. Plot-wise, the games showcase the conflict between the Mishima family, and the lore also gives us insight into various characters' motivations to try and control the Zaibatsu company.

With the newly released trailer for TEKKEN Bloodline, we can see that the Netflix animated adaptation of the series will focus on similar themes, alluding to greed for power. It follows Jin Kazama as the show's protagonist, who first debuted for the video games in TEKKEN 3 where he had to face off against Ogre. He has been learning self-defense techniques called the Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts from his mother at an early age. But when a monstrous evil appeared and destroyed everything dear to him, Jin seeks revenge and will stop at nothing to achieve it. For him, gaining absolute power is the only answer, which leads him to the global King of Iron First Tournament.

Fans of the franchise are looking forward to seeing Jin's story unfold as a Netflix animated show, and will hope that the TEKKEN Bloodline delivers on the character design and combat scenes just as how the sleek gameplay mechanics captured so many players in the past.
