The Houston Texans are in a position to take a giant leap forward next season. Bill O'Brien's squad was able to upgrade in different areas during this NFL offseason while also seeing their up-and-coming quarterback Deshaun Watson work back from his knee injury.

Before going down with a torn ACL in practice last season, Watson was breaking records on a weekly basis while redefining what it means to be an NFL-ready quarterback. The Clemson product torched opposing defenses while showing the Texans could be a legitimate threat in the AFC. Watson talked about a number of different subjects in a recent interview with Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News including his current situation in Houston.

“Houston was the perfect spot for me. I love the position I’m in,” Watson said. “We’re going to continue to work and continue to grow and hopefully it go on for a long, long time.”

Although Watson proved he can be a star on the NFL level last season, there will be concerns about his surgically repaired knee moving forward. If able to stay healthy with making massive changes to his style of play, the 23-year-old has a bright future in the league while helping lead a Texans squad with a lot of talent on both sides of the football.

In his rookie campaign, Watson played in seven games with six starts before going down with the knee injury. The versatile quarterback threw for 1,699 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Watson was also a force on the ground with 269 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 36 carries.

With Watson back in the fold, the Texans will be a team to watch in the AFC as they try to get back to where they left off before he went down.
