What a season it's been for the Houston Texans. Around this time last year, the fans were bemoaning a Week 18 win that caused them to miss out on the first overall pick. Now, these same fans are celebrating a return to the playoffs, led by their second overall pick in the draft. It's been one hell of a ride for the team.

After clinching a playoff spot against the Indianapolis Colts, the Texans celebrated their achievement in the only way possible: chaos. The scenes inside Houston's locker room were incredible, as the entire team erupted into a celebration. Multiple videos taken in the locker room (shared by Mark Berman and Yahoo Sports NFL) captured the elation experienced by the team after the win.

It's funny to think that just a year ago, fans were absolutely devastated after winning against the Colts in Week 18. The win effectively “relegated” the Texans to the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. That second overall pick ended up saving them, as rookie QB CJ Stroud led the team to a masterful 10-7 record and a playoff berth.

The Texans ironically faced the Colts once again in Week 18. This time, though, both teams were fighting for their playoff lives. The rules were simple: win, and they're in. It was a close contest, but Houston's defense (led by another first-round pick in Will Anderson Jr) sealed the game in the waning moments.

Now, the Texans are waiting on one more result to solidify this as perhaps the best comeback season in franchise history. The game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans will determine their final seeding for the season. If the Jags win, they get a Wild Card spot. If the Titans win, though… the city of Houston will get to host a playoff game. That would be the perfect bookend to a season filled with hope and optimism.
