The Houston Texans' 34-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs wasn't the only setback that the team has encountered in the past few days. They also took a big hit when running back Duke Johnson suffered a sprained ankle during the opening game.

The Texans wanted to get Johnson heavily involved in their offense but he failed to get his desired touches as his team was down by multiple scores in the second half. His sustained injury forced him to be sidelined and left after tallying just five carries for 14 yards late in the third quarter of Thursday night's game.

RB1 David Johnson has taken most of the snaps since then and tallied a 19-yard touchdown run in the game, his longest run in two years. He finished with a total of 11 carries on 77 yards which weren't enough to power the Texans over the dominant Chiefs.

Duke Johnson spent the majority of the 2019 season serving a backup role, only having started 2 out of 16 total appearances. He recorded 410 rushing yards on 83 attempts and two scored rushing touchdowns for the Texans last season.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Duke Johnson may have to miss next week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. David Johnson and third-year player Buddy Howell will aim to lead the running game in lieu of the sixth-year veteran's absence.

Despite the lack of depth in the backfield, the Texans are looking to scour for other options to help them overcome the odds and pull off an upset against the Ravens.
