Such a tough and grueling game as football sees a high rate of injury to its players. These injury concerns explain why C.J. Stroud and other Houston Texans starters elected to sit out the Pro Football Hall of Fame game against the Chicago Bears. However, the injury bug still struck the team as TE Teagan Quitoriano left the game in the first half due to a lower-body injury. He also joined linebacker Jake Hansen who underwent medical evaluation in the blue tent for another injury.

Before his injury, Quitoriano was putting on a solid performance for the Texans. He had caught a touchdown pass and made two receptions for 21 yards when he got hurt. Currently, the tight end is undergoing evaluation from the medical staff, who said he suffered a lower-body injury. This disheartening news comes after Quitoriano's recovery from a successful surgery to repair his oblique and groin injuries from last season. He had sustained these injuries versus the Carolina Panthers. Moreover, he had to undergo surgery upon discovering that his injuries weren't getting better from treatment.

Quitoriano had begun his career on the injury reserve while nursing a knee injury. Still, he made his first NFL reception and scored his first NFL touchdown when he played against the Philadelphia Eagles after his activation on a Thursday night game. Likewise, he ended the season with three catches for 83 yards in a win over the Indianapolis Colts, putting up a respectable seven catches for 113 years, with two scores, for the year.

Entering his third year with the Texans, he has appeared in 15 games. He also started 11 of them. During his college career at Oregon State, Quitoriano scored six touchdowns and caught 40 passes for 512 yards.

NFL preseason and injuries

Just because it's the NFL preseason doesn't mean that injuries don't happen. Players often have to juggle their desire to play and their chances of getting hurt, especially for low-stakes games like preseason exhibition matches. Avoiding needless injury often drives notable players' decision to sit out these games. For this reason, Texans starters C.J. Stroud, Nico Collins, and Stefon Diggs elected to rest for the Pro Football Hall of Fame exhibition.

On the other hand, these games give fringe guys a chance to compete for a roster spot on their respective teams. Additionally, young players who might not get minutes during the season can get their needed reps against other pro players in these games. Sadly, Teagan Quitoriano had to get injured while chipping in for the Texans.
