The Green Bay Packers finished 13-3 this season with the No. 2 seed in the NFC. This was a team that found ways to win close games. They did not have the explosive offense that they have gotten used to in the Aaron Rodgers era.

The Packers finished 18th in total offense. They averaged 23.5 points per game and 233.3 passing yards per game. Both of those numbers put them in the bottom half of the league. Davante Adams finished with 997 receiving yards, but he was the only Green Bay receiver to eclipse 500 yards. This should put them in the market for a receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft.

This is an extremely deep receiver class. Green Bay has other glaring needs and may opt to wait to draft a receiver, if they do at all. This makes Collin Johnson an intriguing option.

Would Johnson Be the Needed Weapon for Rodgers and the Packers?

Johnson is a four-year player at Texas. He will leave the Longhorns with 15 touchdowns and an average of nearly 14 yards per reception in his career. Johnson's biggest attribute is his size and length. He is a physical player at 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds. He knows how to use his strength to box out defenders and make contested catches.

If there is one knock on Johnson, it is that he does not have the best speed. He struggles creating separation against man coverage and this could be a concern heading into the NFL. Johnson relies on his size and strong route running to get open. When the ball is thrown his way, he usually catches it. He has a large catch radius and is not afraid to go up and over defenders.

Green Bay does not have a receiver with great size who can dominate in the red zone. Adams is one of the league's best at getting in the end zone. He has scored 40 touchdowns since 2016. Adding Johnson would give the Packers multiple options when in scoring range. They would have size with Johnson and the 6-foot-1 Adams, who has a nose for the end zone.

The best part about this option is that the Packers will not have to use their first round pick on Johnson. With names like Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Henry Ruggs III getting a lot of attention, Johnson has been put on the back burner. This could work in his favor because it might land him on a better team. It would certainly work in favor of the Packers because they would give Rodgers another weapon to work with.
