FX's The Bear just dropped Season 3 but was supposed to film Season 4 back-to-back. However, this was not the case, and the Jeremy Allen White-led series has not filmed its fourth season yet.

The Playlist revealed that the Season 4 scripts were not ready. A source told The Playlist that the plan to shoot The Bear Seasons 3 and 4 in conjunction was scrapped due to scripts not being ready in time.

They also speculated on the reason for this original idea. Their cast, which includes White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, is full of blossoming stars. It will only get harder to secure them for filming of the hit FX show.

FX then confirmed to The Playlist that no, the third and fourth seasons were not shot back-to-back. They did concede that “some elements were shot in advance.” It is unclear how much that actually is.

The outlet asked about the plan to shoot The Bear Seasons 3 and 4 back-to-back at the recent press conference for the former. When asked if they did follow through, White said, “We did something like that.”

Similarly, Edebiri was secretive when she replied, “Yeah, a little version of it, sort of. But not exactly.”

“Not exactly,” White then added.

“Is that helpful for journalism?” Edebiri then quipped.

In conclusion, “You'll have to find out,” as Abby Elliot said.

When will The Bear Season 4 film?

The Playlist's report adds that The Bear Season 4 will resume production in “early 2025.” Most of the principal cast is booked and busy through 2024, so that makes sense — especially if they hope to get a fourth straight season out in June.

What is The Bear about?

The Bear is a comedy-drama series created by Christopher Storer. It follows an acclaimed chef, Carmy Berzatto (White), who returns home to Chicago to run his family's failing sandwich shop. However, it is more than meets the eye. The shop is in rough shape, and Carmy inherits more problems than he entered with.

Season 1 of the hit show premiered on June 23, 2022. Nearly a full year later, Season 2 dropped on June 22, 2023. Finally, the third season just premiered on FX on Hulu on June 26, 2024.

All three seasons have followed the binge model that allows fans to catch all of the episodes at once. Like Season 2, The Bear Season 3 has 10 episodes. Christopher Storer once again directed a few episodes of the season, and Edebiri also directed one.
