Taking center stage, Yun Jin is a Geo character who is appearing in the first phase of Genshin Impact 2.4. She is a new face inside a patch that contains three rerun banners, and she’s sure to pique the interest of most players. She is well-known throughout Liyue, where people from all sorts of places come by her Tea House, in order to watch her dazzling performance on top of the stage. Her talent on stage equals her talent in combat, striking enemies with grace and finesse.

Yun Jin is a 4-star Polearm Geo character, specializing in fighting with a durable shield, or dealing extra damage while off the field. Most of her kit scales from DEF, which is a common factor on a lot of Geo characters. With DEF-boosting artifacts and teammates who can utilize her Elemental Burst, Yun Jin can definitely shift the tide of her battles.

If you're set on picking up Yun Jin, then you might want to know which character banner you should be aiming to get her from. To help you with that, then check out these two guides we have:

Abilities Overview

Yun Jin’s Elemental Skill is Opening Flourish. When pressed, Yun Jin swings her spear, dealing AoE Geo DMG around her. When held, she takes up a stance and charges up, creating a shield for herself. Yun Jin will unleash damage with an attack after the skill is released, its duration ends, or when the shield breaks.

The shield from this ability seems to be only for herself, while she is charging. This means that Yun Jin is not a dedicated shielder, unlike Zhongli or Diona. However, the skill has amazing multipliers, which scales from her DEF stat. With enough DEF stacking, she can deal a lot of damage frequently, considering its relatively low cooldown.

Her Elemental Burst is Cliffbreaker’s Banner. Upon activation, Yun Jin deals AoE Geo DMG, and grants all party members with the Flying Cloud Flag Formation. This buff deals bonus DMG when Normal Attack DMG is dealt. The bonus damage is based on her current DEF value. The skill has a number of instances (or quota) for dealing damage, and multiple hits from each normal attack are counted towards the quota.

This skill has great overall stats, from its DMG multiplies, its trigger quota, uptime, and energy cost. Because of this, she can scale quite well without needing high investment. However, this ability only procs on Normal Attacks, which is quite the restriction, since not many common DPS characters utilize Normal Attacks as main sources of damage. For those who do, however, Yun Jin is the perfect character to boost their damage by a significant amount.

Best Weapon Build for Yun Jin

Skyward Spine – Yun Jin scales off of DEF, which not many polearms provide at the moment. Since the other 5-star weapons provide other stats like ATK, Skyward Spine pulls ahead by providing Energy Recharge, which is more useful for Yun Jin than ATK.

Favonius Lance – Yeah, there’s not really a lot of polearms that provide DEF. At this point, Energy Recharge is more valuable for providing even better uptime for her Elemental Burst. Favonius Lance also supports the whole team by generating more energy, which can be funneled towards another party member.

Deathmatch – This weapon is for the weird Main DPS Yun Jin that some of you might be tempted to try. Deathmatch’s passive actually provides DEF when fighting against multiple enemies, and its high Crit Rate substat is extremely good for balancing out her Crit Ratio.

Best Artifacts Set Build for Yun Jin

RECOMMENDED (Article Continues Below)

Hust of Opulent Dreams (4-piece) – This gives Yun Jin everything she wants for her damage output: DEF and Geo DMG Bonus. This artifact set works exceptionally well for off-field DPS characters, by easily gaining max stacks after being off-field for 12 seconds. You can then switch to her, press her burst, and start hitting enemies with your Main DPS.

Noblesse Oblige (4-piece) – If you’re not running a Geo team with Yun Jin, this might be a better set if none of your party members don’t have this yet. This is great if your Main DPS still wants a bit more ATK, especially when their artifacts are not too optimized yet.

Archaic Petra (4-piece) – This set is quite underrated, but can shine with the new Geo characters which miHoYo has released recently. If your main DPS deals Elemental and Normal ATK damage, then this set is the one for Yun Jin. Just keep in mind that she has to pick up the Elemental Shard to boost her ally.

Best Team Compositions for Yun Jin

Yoimiya with Geo Resonance – Yoimiya is one of the very few main DPS characters who deal most of their damage via Normal Attacks, which makes Yun Jin a great partner for her. Yoimiya also has a problem of having ICDs in her attacks, making Melt or Vaporise Yoimiya not optimal, and would rather do raw Pyro damage. Geo Resonance is a good boost to her raw Pyro damage, and Yun Jin’s Elemental Burst adds even more damage on top of that. An example team would be Yoimiya, Bennett, Yun Jin, and Gorou/Geo MC.

Chongyun is back, with Double Geo – Similar to Yoimiya, Chongyun mostly deals Normal Attack damage, apart from his burst which can nuke on a triple Melt setup. Chongyun doesn’t really do reactions, since his attack ICDs interfere with Melt, and his claymore attacks that break the Frozen status. All things considered, Chongyun is better off doing Normal Attacks with his Cryo infusion, which can be boosted by Geo Resonance and Yun Jin’s Elemental Burst.  An example team would be Chongyun, Diona, Yun Jin, and Gorou/Geo MC.
