Grand Theft Auto VI has dropped its first trailer, giving fans of the franchise the first look at a sequel in a decade. This long gap meant that there was plenty of time for people to speculate, fabricate, and predict what would be in GTA6. Now that we have the trailer, here are the rumors that have been debunked or confirmed by the GTA VI Trailer.

GTA 6 Rumors Confirmed

Female Protagonist

Months prior, one of the GTA 6 leaks featured a female playable protagonist. This leak spread like wildfire as the franchise only had male playable protagonists since the first GTA title up to Grand Theft Auto V, meaning this would be a series-first since its shift to 3D. The leak also got her name right: Lucia.

The trailer confirms this rumor as it prominently features Lucia who is fully expected to be one of the protagonists for this game.

“Bonnie and Clyde” duo

The Lucia leak also brought to light that the main characters of the game will draw inspiration from the notorious “Bonnie and Clyde,” taking a leaf from GTA V's multi-protagonist playbook. Although the official GTA VI trailer makes no mention of Lucia's counterpart, the leak names him as Jason. Given the accuracy of the leak's other details, it's likely that Jason will indeed be our male lead in the game.

Vice City Setting and Map Size

Grand Theft Auto VI also marks our return to Vice City, confirming yet another GTA 6 rumor, this time about its setting. The game's trailer showcases several recognizable landmarks, including the iconic Ocean View Hotel which was Tommy Vercetti's safe house.

It's difficult to get a sense of scale from the trailer, but eagle-eyed fans spotted familiar equivalents in Leonida, the in-game representation of Florida. This includes an in-game Monroe County called Kelly County, and a rural county named Leonard County.

The official press release confirmed that GTA 6 will take place in Vice City and beyond, and dubs it as “the biggest [and] most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

Other GTA 6 Rumors

The trailer leaves some rumors about Grand Theft Auto VI unconfirmed, such as the intricacies of an advanced Police System and the detailed Money Laundering mechanics for cleaning dirty money. Nonetheless, the anticipation is higher than it's ever been.
