A Nevada woman was hoping for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo to pay her millions of dollars after he allegedly raped her in 2009 in Las Vegas, but a US judge has now decided to dismiss the case.

U.S. District Judge Jennifer Dorsey decided to do so to punish the attorney of the alleged victim for “bad-faith conduct” and the use of “purloined” confidential documents that the judge said tainted the case beyond redemption, as written by the Associated Press.

Here is more info on Dorsey's decision:

Dorsey said in her 42-page order that dismissing a case outright with no option to file it again is a severe sanction, but she said Cristiano Ronaldo had been harmed by Stovall's conduct.

“I find that the procurement and continued use of these documents was bad faith, and simply disqualifying Stovall will not cure the prejudice to Ronaldo because the misappropriated documents and their confidential contents have been woven into the very fabric of [plaintiff Kathryn] Mayorga's claims,” the ruling said. “Harsh sanctions are merited.”

Leslie Mark Stovall, the attorney of plaintiff Kathryn Mayorga, did note that her client received $375,000 from Cristiano Ronaldo to silence her. The incident allegedly happened in 2009.

The Manchester United striker is most likely not worried the least bit about this situation and now that the case has been dismissed, he can move on.
