The Witcher 3 next-gen release date has finally been revealed by CD Projekt Red, letting us play an improved version on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.
Previously delayed indefinitely after CD Projekt Red restructured internally, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt now has a release window for its next-gen version. In celebration of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's seventh year anniversary since its launch in May 18, 2015, CD Projekt Red officially announced when the next-gen upgraded version of the game is coming out.
“We're delighted to share that the Next Gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is planned to release in Q4 2022.”
Do note that the original plan for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen version is getting it released by 2021. But due to the aforementioned internal restructuring, its release has been delayed indefinitely, until this announcement.
You also have the chance to get this next-gen version even without purchasing anything. The Witcher 3 Next-Gen version will be given away for free by CD Projekt Red to you if you already have the previous-gen version of the game in your library by the time the upgrade rolls out. So, you have a couple of months to sneak in The Witcher 3 on your library in the multitude of sales that happen on all platforms. Get it on your Xbox now to get the Xbox Series X version when it comes out – the same goes if you have a PlayStation or PC. You're going to get The Witcher 3 Next-Gen on the same platform, with the exception of the Nintendo Switch. Sorry Nintendo fans, your console isn't considered next-gen, so you're going to be stuck with your old version for the time being. There's no guarantee either if the next-gen version of the game will even come out for the Switch successor.
