Back in November, rumors on social media began to swirl regarding Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey. At the center of the rumors was an alleged inappropriate relationship involving Giddey and a minor. The NBA announced that it had opened an investigation into Giddey regarding the allegations and shortly after the Newport Beach Police Department did as well. Now, the investigation is all but closed as the Newport Beach Police released an official statement clearing Giddey from the allegations, as per NBA insider Marc Stein.

In the statement, the Newport Beach Police said that they were unable to find any strong evidence during their investigation of Josh Giddey. The Thunder guard had continued to play for the Thunder while the investigation was ongoing. Newport Beach in California was the home city of the alleged minor involved in the allegations.

During the ongoing process, most of the NBA and media world largely stayed silent on the allegations with only official statements from the NBA, the Thunder and the Newport Beach Police Department as the extent of their reporting. That was probably due to the sensitive nature of the allegations.

Giddey continues to be a key member of the Thunder roster. He's started all 39 games he's played in this season at 24.8 minutes per game. He's been averaging 11.8 points per game, 6.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists with splits of 45.5 percent shooting from the field, 36.4 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 81.8 percent shooting from the free throw line. The Thunder currently hold a top two seed in the Western Conference.
