The case of Josh Giddey allegedly having a relationship with a minor has been officially closed. The Oklahoma City Thunder star also won't be facing criminal charges following an investigation on the matter by the Newport Beach Police.

According to a report, Giddey has been cleared after “officials found no corroborating evidence,” per TMZ. To recall, the family of the alleged minor with whom the Thunder guard was involved with refused to cooperate with police in the investigation.

Josh Giddey's inappropriate relationship case

Josh Giddey's name was dragged into the scandal in late November after photos and videos of him with a girl went viral. He was said to have sexual relations with the woman in question, but it got controversial when it was revealed that the woman is a minor. Giddey is 21 years old and the girl he reportedly had a relationship with is said to be 15 years old.

Sure enough, it sparked an investigation from both the police and the NBA. Amid the controversy, the Newport Beach Police released a statement saying that they are “conducting an active investigation” to “ensure a fair and thorough investigative process while maintaining the privacy and dignity of everyone involved. ”

Despite the controversial nature of the allegations, Giddey was never suspended and didn't stop playing for the Thunder. The team and the player himself refused to comment on the issue as well.

Now that the case is closed, Giddey and the Thunder can finally move on from the saga and focus on their real task at hand. Oklahoma City is a legitimate playoff and title contender this 2023-24 season, owning one of the best records in the West and the NBA.
