After a conversation with the newest member of the Las Vegas Raiders, Davante Adams, former Raiders wide receiver and Pro Football Hall of Famer Tim Brown had some powerful words regarding the team's young superstar wideout.
“Y'all are gonna love him” Brown said in a tweet on Wednesday after having a chance to chop it up with the 29-year-old Redwood City native. Brown would go on to explain a family friendship between Adams' father's fiance and his wife during their time in Oakland, which naturally allowed Brown to have a vested interest in Adams' career and future. With Adams being traded to Las Vegas last week, Brown is excited to watch it continue in the silver and black stating “Now I get to watch him demolish my records!”
The thought of Davante Adams shattering one or more of Tim Brown's nine Raiders franchise records is worrisome for the rest of the AFC West. Brown currently holds the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders records for most touchdowns (104), receiving yards (14, 734), receptions (1,070), receiving touchdowns (99), punt return yards (3,272), punt returns (320), punt returns for touchdowns (3), all-purpose yards (19,431), and yards from scrimmage (14,924). Not to mention being a member of both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame.
Adams will almost certainly not have 16 years with the Raiders as Brown did, so touching any of the aforementioned records would be a truly monumental feat. That said, this high praise coming from an all-time great should bode well with Raider Nation, and add palpable excitement for the 2022 season.
