Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Derrick Rose will miss the second half of their game against the San Antonio Spurs due to a sore left ankle.

Derrick Rose started the game, but didn't look like himself, finishing with just four points on 1-of-8 shooting from the field.

Derrick Rose entered this game averaging 18.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game and shooting 49.3 percent from the field, 47.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.1 percent from the free-throw line. The Chicago native is arguably the front-runner for the Sixth Man of the Year award.

This isn't good news for Rose or the Timberwolves, as starting point guard Jeff Teague is out with left ankle inflammation. The left ankle is the ankle that plagued Rose last year with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rose reportedly has a bone spur in that ankle that can flare up at any moment.

The Timberwolves entered Friday at 14-17, second to the last place in the Western Conference. The team was playing well initially after the Jimmy Butler trade, but they have come back to earth.

With the Derrick Rose injury, the Timberwolves will have to rely on former Duke star Tyus Jones to run the offense and score from the point guard spot.
