Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Andrew Wiggins did not exactly have the best year last season. Many believe that he has not been able to live up to the high expectations the team have had on him, while others still have questioned his effort and passion on the court.

The good news for Wiggins is that he apparently has the full backing of Minnesota's new president of basketball operations, Gersson Rosas. According to the 6-foot-8 small forward himself, Rosas reached out to him as the team executive made sure that they would be able to connect on a more personal level.

“I came and met Gersson with some of my family, and he was amazing,” Andrew Wiggins said, via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “He held my daughter like his own. He said he’s a big family guy, and so am I, and I feel like that goes a long way right there.”

Wiggins went on to explain how Rosas discussed the team's future plans with him and how the former Rookie of the Year figures significantly in the same.

“And he was just telling me his plans for the future, what he wanted of me and said he believes in me, and some encouraging words,” he added. “That’s good to hear.”

In his fifth year in the league last season, Wiggins averaged 18.1 points (on 41.2 percent shooting), 1.6 three-pointers, 4.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 34.8 minutes per contest. He is currently on a long-term deal with the Timberwolves which will extend up to the 2022-23 season, and it appears that Wiggins will remain to be part of the team's plans moving forward.
