Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor recently revealed that it is up to Kevin Garnett to decide when and whether he wants his jersey retired by the organization.

Taylor has also divulged that he has taken that one step further as he told 1500ESPN Twin Cities that he has offered the jersey retirement on multiple occasions to the future Hall of Famer.

“For our part, we have invited KG to do that numerous times,” Taylor said in a radio interview with 1500ESPN. “So I think it’s just waiting for KG to feel comfortable doing that. For whatever reason, he’s been a little bit silent on that issue. But I’m sure it’ll happen. We’re not pushing but we sure have told him that the door is open and we look forward to that time.”

This has developed into a situation in which Garnett will have his jersey retired once he feels comfortable with the grand gesture by the Timberwolves. He is just over a year removed from stepping away from the game after 21 years in the league.

Garnett had certainly put together a career with Minnesota that deserves this honor as he has holds many prestigious team records to his name. He holds the mark for most points (19,041), rebounds (14,662), assists (4,146), blocks (1,576), steals (1,282), field goals made (7,575), and games played (927) just to name a few. At this current juncture, he and Hall of Famer Michael Jordan are the only players to currently hold their respective franchise in all-time points, rebounds, and assists.
In total, Garnett put together a highly successful career to record 25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 5,000 assists, 1,500 steals, and 1,500 blocks.
During his 13 1/2 seasons with the Timberwolves, he notched 10 of his 15 All-Star Game selections, three of his four All-NBA First Team nods, all three of his All-NBA Second selections, both of his All-NBA Third Team nods, six of his nine NBA All-Defensive First Team selections, two of his three NBA All-Defensive Second Team nod, and his only NBA MVP award.
Ultimately, it's just a matter of time before Garnett has his No. 21 jersey up in the rafters up in the Target Center.
