Jimmy Butler posts TBT pic of him in a Rockets shirt
In light of an upcoming best-of-seven matchup with the league-leading Houston Rockets, Jimmy Butler of the Minnesota Timberwolves posted a “today-back-then” picture of himself on Instagram, reverting back to the time he was only a middle schooler in his hometown of Tomball, Texas.
His old high school teammate Jimmy Rogers chimed in on his Instagram comments.
“He used to roam around the locker room acting like Tracy McGrady, saying he was the next Tracy McGrady,” said Rogers, according to Mark Berman of Fox26 Houston.
Butler might be a Houston fan at heart, but he’ll have to fight for his new team as he did in a do-or-die game against the Denver Nuggets, dropping a team-high 31 points and taking over in the overtime stretch to secure a playoff ticket.
The Wolves face a daunting task, taking on one of the NBA’s hottest teams, but they surely have a better chance with Butler in the lineup as their leading scorer and all-around leader on the floor.
While Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins have enjoyed good seasons, it will be up to veterans like Butler and Jamal Crawford to share some of their playoff mettle and maybe re-enact some of that T-Mac magic in the Toyota Center.
