Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns’ injury update after scary fall vs. Wizards

Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns

Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns had a scary fall during Wednesday night’s game against the Washington Wizards, raising fears that he could have sustained a back injury. Fortunately, it seems he avoided a significant problem.

Late in the fourth quarter of the game, Towns drove to the basket and dunked the ball. However, he fell awkwardly after losing his grip on the rim, causing him to crash onto the floor back first. According to Dane Moore of BMTN, the Timberwolves big man laid down on the bench after the incident before going to the locker room.

Based on the video replays, Towns can be seen writhing in pain holding his lower back.

In the latest update from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, however, the Timberwolves confirmed that x-rays on his back were negative. Karl-Anthony Towns is likely to get more tests to determine the extent of his injury or if there is any issue at all, but by the looks of it, he has escaped a scary issue.

Towns played for 33 minutes in the contest and finished 34 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves. Unfortunately, it was not enough to propel the team to the W, with the Wizards taking a 115-107 victory.

While the Timberwolves would have surely wanted the win, the priority for them now is the health of KAT. They have been in quite a roll over their last few games, one that has seen them join the playoff race in the West. Without Towns, though, it would be difficult to sustain such run.
