The Minnesota Timberwolves do not have the deepest stables of Hall of Fame talent in franchise history. But one key guy they do have is Kevin Garnett. Some younger fans might not remember, but before winning a title with the Boston Celtics, Garnett was one of the most dominant players in the NBA for 12 years in Minnesota. During that time, he amassed over 11,000 points. On Wednesday night, current Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns joined him as the only players in franchise history to reach that mark.

It took Garnett 575 games to achieve that feat. Towns has bested the Hall of Famer, hitting 11,000 points in only 475 games. Towns is a far better shooter at this point in his career than Garnett was. Towns has even become an elite three-point shooter. During NBA All-Star weekend, the Timberwolves superstar won the 3-Point shooting competition.

Garnett was more of a mid-range shooter. His height and length made the shot almost impossible to stop though. KG was also known even more for his intense defense. Garnett won Defensive Player of the Year in 2008, and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team 12 times.

Towns is not nearly the imposing presence at that end of the court. But offensively, he has it all. Towns can shoot threes, back you down, is agile and can finish around the rim, and even sinks his free throws at an elite rate for a big man.

The center out of Kentucky is on pace to be a Hall of Famer himself, and Garnett would likely welcome him.
