Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns is questionable for tonight's game against the Sacramento Kings, though James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area reported that Towns is unlikely to play despite said designation.

Chris Hine of the Minneapolis Star Tribune also reported that while Towns was on the floor getting up some shots during pregame warmups, he was mostly stationary:

Towns has missed each of the last four games after suffering an apparent left knee sprain during a matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 13.

The 24-year-old was initially listed as “day-to-day” but apparently has seen little improvement over the course of the last two weeks despite assurances that the injury was not serious.

Towns missed a pair of games in November due to suspension after an altercation with Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiied, but these are the first contests he has missed due to injury. Timberwolves head coach Ryan Saunders said last week that the team will continue to assess Towns on a daily basis, and that they will not rush him back into action (via Kent Youngblood and Chris Hine of the Star Tribune):

Saunders didn’t provide much in the way of a prognosis for Towns, saying only that he was “day to day.”

“You want to have a healthy Karl-Anthony Towns,” Saunders said. “So he won’t be playing [Wednesday]”

Towns is having the best season of his career. The former No. 1 overall pick is averaging 26.5 points, 11.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists while shooting nearly 42 percent from beyond the arc on 8.5 attempts per game.

The Wolves, meanwhile, have lost 11 straight after a 10-8 start to the season.
