Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns woke up on Monday and said to himself: I feel like dropping 60 points today.

That's exactly what he did against the San Antonio Spurs, leading the Timberwolves to a 149-139 victory. Towns finished with a career-high 60 points on top 0f 17 rebounds and three assists. He was also efficient in doing so, shooting 19-of-31 from the field, including 7-of-11 from beyond the arc.

Aside from setting a new Timberwolves record for most points in a game, KAT also joined NBA legends Shaquille O'Neal and Wilt Chamberlain as the only centers in league history to have a 60-point, 15-rebound outing, according to StatMuse.

The 26-year-old Towns has always said he wants to be one of the iconic big men in NBA history, and he's certainly on his way. Aside from his dominating performances this season, he also took home the trophy in the Three-Point Shootout during NBA All-Star Weekend.

In his scoring barrage against the Spurs, the Timberwolves anchor also entered the top five of most points scored in a quarter in NBA history.

During his early years, KAT has been heavily criticized for his alleged lack of work ethic, soft play, and immaturity. More famously, he got into a heated argument with former Timberwolves guard Jimmy Butler. But in recent seasons, the three-time All-Star has truly proven that he can be a franchise cornerstone.

With Towns leading the way, the Timberwolves are no. 7 in the Western Conference with a 39-30 record.
