There was arguably no one other person happier about how things turned out at the trade deadline than Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns. The Timberwolves were one of the most active teams leading up to the Thursday deadline, with their biggest move coming in the form of the arrival of D'Angelo Russell, one of Towns' best buddies.

While the Timberwolves had been trying to get Russell for quite some time, Towns admitted he still couldn't believe they finally pulled it off:

“I’d be lying if I told you I thought it was possible,” Towns told The Athletic on Thursday. “I’m shocked like everybody else. We’ve been putting it into the universe since Day 1. We’ve never been shy about saying it in the media or interviews or wherever it may be. If you want something to happen, you have to keep believing and keep saying it to the universe and repeating it and one day the universe will hear it and give you your wish.”

Towns was growing noticeably frustrated with Minnesota's struggles, and there have even been rumblings that he may want out, despite being in Year 1 of a massive extension. However, the acquisition of Russell gives Towns a big reason to stick around for a while:

“I think with D-Lo here, it’s always going to be a big incentive for me to want to stay,” Towns said. “D-Lo is a big part of everything the vision is. D-Lo always knows he’s going to be wanted because his brother is here with him and he always knows he’s going to have his back covered because I’m always going to be there for him.”

Towns and Russell view themselves as not just friends but “brothers,” and the Timberwolves star is expecting big things from the newly formed duo. That's all the Minnesota brass and the Timberwolves faithful wanted to hear. They now have one happy superstar, who is looking toward a bright future with the organization even amidst an atrocious season.
