With the reported signing of veteran Luol Deng, the Minnesota Timberwolves appear to be on the brink of finalizing their team roster for the upcoming season. New reports have now emerged that former NBA stud Monta Ellis has been identified by head coach Tom Thibodeau as his potential final signing of the offseason.

It was NBA insider Jon Krawczynski who first broke the news on Twitter.

This report is quite contradictory to a previous story about Ellis recently selling his Tennessee mansion in preparation for a stint abroad after agreeing to a deal with the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China. Given the choice though, it is likely that Ellis would prefer to play in the NBA season as opposed to making the big move to Asia.

We did not see Ellis in the league last season after the 12-year veteran failed to secure a deal with any NBA team. It appears that his hard work over the past year had paid off, as he is now reportedly being given a shot at a comeback.

Now at 32, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard can still prove to be a serviceable option off the bench for coach Thibs. He should be able to provide some firepower on the team's second (or third) unit.

The last time Ellis was active in the association was in the 2016-17 season when he was part of the Indiana Pacers. In 74 games for his team, Ellis averaged 8.5 points, 0.6 three-pointers, 2.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.4 blocks per contest.
