The Minnesota Timberwolves came out with an incredible series win over the defending champion Denver Nuggets in seven games, and although Anthony Edwards gets the most attention as one of the rising stars in the NBA, Patrick Beverley said the MVP of the series should go to Karl-Anthony Towns.

“He shoot a lot of jump shots, you know he's really not like a big bruiser ‘I'mma back you down dunk on you,' his game is one leg fades, he shoot floats, he shoot right hand hoods, he shoot trey balls, he come off curl screens,” Patrick Beverley said on his podcast. “I mean, he one of the best shooting bigs in the league. Regardless if people like it or not he get her done. He get it done, you understand me? He giving MFs blues, you hear me? He is giving folks the blues. They can't guard him. They switch guard on him, he post them up. You put a big on him, he gonna play off the catch. You close out short he gonna hit three on you. And he guarded Jokic. Jokic did not guard him, they put Aaron Gordon on him. To me, MVP of that series, KAT.”

It is not a surprise to hear Beverley talk so highly of Karl-Anthony Towns, the two are former teammates, and even after Beverley left the Timberwolves, he had great words for Towns. Towns has appeared on Beverley's podcast before, where Beverley set the record straight on how good he thinks Towns is, and it was not a very popular take at the time.

Now, Towns is receiving praise for his play during this playoff run for the Timberwolves, and many believe he had as great of an impact as anyone in the Game 7 win over the Nuggets. With Minnesota down 20 at one point, the team turned up the defensive effort, which helped get them back in the game. Towns was a big part of that. He ended up with 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, which was the fourth time that Towns finished with 20 or more points in the series. Three of those performances came in wins. Towns also had 12 rebounds in Game 7, which was huge as well.

Timberwolves move on to different challenge with Mavericks

As the Timberwolves gear up for the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, they will be facing a much different team. The Mavericks attack teams offensively with the duo or Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, which is radically different than the challenge that Nikola Jokic presents for the Nuggets. That will be interesting to see when looking at how the Timberwolves match up.

If Towns keeps playing as well as he has in these playoffs, the Timberwolves will have to like their chances of advancing to the NBA Finals.
