Deng Adel, an undrafted forward from Louisville has inked a training camp deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Adel, 22-years-old, played three years for Louisville where he logged in 11.2 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, and two assists. He shot 43.7 percent from the field and was a starter in his last two years with the team. The 6-foot-7 forward was named into the All-AAC Honorable mention last year.

The South Sudanese-Australian signed up for the drafted but was not selected by any team. However, the Houston Rockets picked him up for the Summer League where he averaged 8.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 21.2 minutes.

Back in the Summer League, Adel spoke about his road to the NBA. He noted that he does feel a little homesick. Though he wasn't get drafted, he remains hopeful and patient and acknowledges that there is an opportunity. As reported by Kate Pitman of The Pick and Roll:

“From time to time [I] get a little homesick, so it’s good to see you guys. Obviously I’ve lost my accent a little bit, but its always good to see other Aussies,” Deng Adel chuckled.

“[I’m] being patient, I’ve been through a lot personally so I’m not going to quit now. Depending on what happens through Summer League, I’ve got that resiliency to be patient and continue to grind,” Adel said.

“The opportunities are there. Obviously I’m here now, so the opportunities are going to be there.”
