The Western Conference Finals switches destinations as the Dallas Mavericks host the Minnesota Timberwolves up 2-0 in the series. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Timberwolves-Mavericks prediction and pick.

Not many predicted that the Mavericks would go into Minnesota and take the first two games of the conference finals. However, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving had other plans. Dallas entered the series as underdogs after the Twolves took down the reigning champs in the second round. Doncic hit a late three in Game 1 to lead the Mavs to an early win and then he did the same exact thing in Game 2. Luka hit a step-back trey as the Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert was defending him. After making the clutch shot to win the game for the Mavs, you could see Luka screaming at Rudy letting him know he gave him the business. The Twolves aim to do what they did in the second round by going to their opponent's court and taking two straight to even the series.

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread/Win

As crazy as this sounds, the Mavericks must figure out how to utilize Gobert in this series. As dominant as he is defending the paint, he has become a major liability in iso situations. Because the Twolves switch on screens, Gobert is forced to defend either Luka or Kyrie one-on-one. Just as you saw in the final possession Friday night, Gobert had no chance of stopping Luka from attempting a good shot to give them an opportunity to win the game. Not to mention, Gobert only has three blocks so far in this series.

In four of Anthony Edwards' last five games, he has shot less than 38% from the floor. In all four of those games, he had 21 or fewer points. If the Twolves want to turn this series around, then it starts with their superstar. Ant has proven how talented he is in this postseason but you can tell the task is taking a major toll on him. Edwards is showing clear signs of fatigue late in games and that needs to change. Edwards is stepping up and wanting to defend the likes of Kyrie and Luka, however, it is tiring him out. The Wolves need Ant to be fresh near crunch time so he can give them better offensive production. If that happens, then I really like the Wolves chances of stealing a win in Dallas.

Naz Reid has been huge for Minnesota. Without him, they may not be in this position. They will need Reid to continue to come off the bench and give them valuable minutes. Furthermore, Jaden McDaniels can't go 1-6 from the floor after scoring 24 in Game 1. He must be better.

Why The Mavericks Could Cover The Spread/Win

The Mavericks can't return home and expect the same success after the first two wins. This Minnesota team is deep and has shown dominance on the defensive end all postseason long. Dallas must keep their foot on the gas pedal as they know it will be a close game with the Wolves' backs against the wall. As long as Luka and Kyrie are on their game, then the Mavs will be in a position to win this game late. We have seen them find ways to win even if one of them is having an off night. We all know once crunch time happens, Luka and Kyrie become two of the most unguardable players in the NBA.

Dallas needs to have the mindset that they could easily be down 2-0 right now instead of ahead. If it weren't for Luka's major clutch threes late in the games, they could be down or even tied. I'm sure Dallas would prefer to be ahead rather than down late in games, and if they want that to change, then they need to continue to force Ant to defend through the game. They need to make sure he remains winded late in games.

Final Timberwolves-Mavericks Prediction & Pick

I have a feeling we will see a much better all-around performance from Anthony Edwards and the Twolves on Sunday evening. They have no choice but to steal a win in Game 3 and I think they will be in a position to do so. Take Minnesota to cover three points on the road with a chance to win and make this a series. 208 points has hit in both games so far as well.
