Cameron Wake wasn't ready to move on. The longtime Miami Dolphins pass-rusher said before NFL free agency began that he would “like” to return to the Miami Dolphins, but acknowledged his future with the team was “out of my hands.” After signing with the Tennessee Titans last week, though, it's safe to say the 37-year-old is focusing far more on the future than lamenting the past, a mindset made easier by a fit with his new team.

“It’s a tough, smart, disciplined team, and I think it fits right in with some of the things I like to think of that I bring to the table,” Wake said of the Titans, per the team's website.
It seems like a match made in heaven for me.”

The five-time Pro Bowler agreed to a three-year, $23 million contract with the Titans last week, a deal that includes $10 million in guarantees.

While that's an objectively fair price tag for a player several years removed from his prime, Wake is intent on showing the football world this season that he has plenty of gas left in the tank.

“I’ve been old since I was 28,” he said. “Every year I am too old. Anything that’s happened, I’ve been injured, and it’s like ‘It’s over. He’s done.' If I had nickel for every time I’d probably go buy a team.

“It is not necessarily proving people wrong. I do what I do for people who believe. I don’t do it for the doubters, I do it for the people who believe in me.”

Wake, who entered the NFL at 28 after first making a name for himself in the CFL, had 36 tackles, six sacks, and 17 quarterback hits last season.
