One if the Titans' top draft selections a year ago, the switch very clearly flipped for Rashaan Evans during the middle of last season once his leg issues were behind him. Thirty-one of his 53 tackles came in the final six games.

Entering his second season, Evans appears healthy and ready for an expanded role.

The question now is how many snaps will get.

Evans will likely have a larger role in the pass rush this season. In 2018, he played 495 snaps (47.3 percent). That number is sure to increase, as is his production. He had 53 tackles a year ago in seven starts. In short, he's just too good to keep off the field.

He’s open to the idea of chasing quarterbacks, too.

“Even when they drafted me, that was really what they wanted me to be: a guy they could use in any aspect of the defense,” Evans said. “I want them to know that I’m available and can do those things and show versatility.”

Last season, veteran Wesley Woodyard, 32, filled more of that role than did Evans. And jusdging by his performance — he led the team in tackles — it seems like there's still enough left in his tank. Though it will be interesting to see how his snap count is effected if his play starts to take a noticeable dip.

Given how often the Titans rotate their ‘backers, starts may be a bit of semantics.

However, Evans seems primed to a huge year on a team that needs more pass-rush depth outside.
