Tennessee Titans kicker Stephen Gostkowski was able to salvage a miserable performance on Monday in their matchup against the Denver Broncos. The last gasp 25-yard field goal attempt of the veteran kicker powered the Titans to escape with a 16-13 win in their opening game of the season.

In his first game with his new team, Gostkowski missed three field goals and an extra point. Despite the scoring drought, he was able to maintain his composure as he kicked the game-deciding shot through the net.

“You don’t always get that lucky to get a chance to redeem yourself,” he said, via Turron Davenport of ESPN.com. “But I’m just happy that the guys got to celebrate. I’m disappointed in myself and embarrassed and frustrated, but at the end of the day, we won, and luckily, guys are happy going home.”

The 36-year old player signed with the Tennessee Titans earlier this month after concluding a 14-year tenure with the New England Patriots. His eventful stint in Foxborough landed him two first-team All-Pro selections, four Pro Bowl appearances, and three Super Bowl rings.

He will aim to replicate the same success this time with the Titans as he enters the twilight zone of his career. His debut with the team may have started on the wrong foot, but Gostkowski was able to step up and deliver when it mattered the most.

At the end of the day, the Titans are just glad to come out of Denver with a victory to start their 2020 season on a high note.
