The years may change but one thing won't: gamers' hunger for new games. 2021 was a great year for video games, with a lot of great releases like It Takes TwoGuardians of the Galaxy, and Resident Evil Village. This year won't be any different – and it might even turn out to be bigger. The games to be released as early as Q1 2022 are already stacked with the world's most highly anticipated games. Here is our list of the top 10 best new games of Q1 2022 – video game releases from January to March 2022.

Top 10 Best New Games of Q1 2022 (January to March 2022)

1. Pokemon Legends Arceus
Release Date: January 28, 2022
Developed By: Game Freak
Published By: Nintendo
Platforms: Switch

Ever since the release of Pokemon Sword & Shield, Pokemon fans have become unsatiable. There's a big crowd asking for the return of classic games with less of the open-world nonsense. Meanwhile, there's another crowd asking hard for Pokemon to evolve like its creatures. The former crowd has already been satisfied by the release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl in November of 2021. But for the latter, Pokemon Legends Arceus will be their answer. This game is highly anticipated by fans, but there's a lot of scrutiny going over it right now. Whether or not it will deliver on its promise of giving Pokemon fans a fresh new experience, we'll get to see this January.

2. Dying Light 2 Stay Human
Release Date: February 4, 2022
Developed By: Techland
Published By: Techland
Platforms: PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

The first Dying Light was a fantastic game, and almost everyone who played the first one will get the chance to play the sequel this February. While it's no longer the “new kid on the block” in the survival horror genre, we feel that Techland still has a lot of tricks up its sleeve. In terms of innovation, Dying Light had them in spades. We'll be expecting the same from Dying Light 2 Stay Human, and we hope that Techland can deliver another exhilarating, suspenseful experience for survival horror fans.

3. WWE 2K22
Release Date: March 2022
Developed By: Visual Concepts
Published By: 2K Sports
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

After skipping a year and developing a new game from the base up within two years, Visual Concepts will finally be ready to release WWE 2K22 in March. Did these two years do wonders for Visual Concepts? We're just about to know – but they have a lot of promises that we wish they'll be able to keep. Visual Concepts will be going head-to-head with their former comrades Yuke's in the pro wrestling simulation game genre, as Yuke's also gears up for the release of their own AEW game somewhere down the line. Heck, both games might even end up featuring overlapping wrestlers, and that will surely highlight which game has the better mechanic. Skipping the Nintendo Switch for this inning is a good idea, too, saving them the embarrassment of repeating their past WWE 2K games on the platform.

4. Sifu
Release Date: February 8, 2022
Developed By: Sloclap
Published By: Sloclap
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5

We won't blame people if they've never heard of Absolver, the game Sloclap developed that featured fantastic martial arts fighting but barely had any audience. It didn't garner a lot of publicity, after all. Thankfully, Sloclap didn't give up on their aspirations, working on Sifu and using all of the lessons they learned in Absolver to make another martial arts fighting game. This one has a better look and has a lot more potential, and we can't wait to play the game.

5. Elden Ring
Release Date: February 25, 2022
Developed By: FromSoftware
Published By: Bandai Namco Entertainment
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

This is arguably the most hyped-up game of 2022. And no wonder – Elden Ring looks and feels like a big deal. Early demos of the game didn't do anything other than getting people even more hyped for the game's full release. The successor to take up the Souls mantle has a lot of expectations going for it, but it's looking like it's more than ready to meet these expectations head-on. The first FromSoftware Souls game to be set in an open-world, Elden Ring is exponentially bigger than any of FromSoftware's past projects, and it can easily win Game of the Year in next year's TGA 2022.

6. The King of Fighters XV
Release Date: February 17, 2022
Developed By: SNK
Published By: SNK / Koch Media
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

There's not a lot of new fighting games coming out in this quarter, which makes The King of Fighters XV coming out this February a godsend for fighting games fans. The first game in the series to be made using Unreal Engine 4, KOF XV will definitely bring in shiny new features to the series. With 39 playable characters and more coming through DLCs down the line, KOF XV will sate your fighting games thirst for Q1 2022.

7. Total War Warhammer III
Release Date: February 17, 2022
Developed By: Creative Assembly
Published By: SEGA
Platforms: PC

The third game in the Warhammer Total War series, this is Creative Assembly's biggest project yet. With the option of having a campaign map as large as an entire planet – available for players who also own the first two – Creative Assembly may have just prepared a game mode that no computer in existence yet could handle to the fullest. The largest campaign map in the game will put together the maps of the first two and unite it with the third's even bigger campaign map for a humongous map that can have you playing a session without ever exploring the entire map over the course of months of gameplay. Aside from its gargantuan map, Total War Warhammer III also features a lot of new factions, new units, and even new campaign scenario objectives, making this a juicy entry to an already fabled franchise.

8. Final Fantasy Origins: Strangers of Paradise
Release Date: March 18, 2022
Developed By: Koei Tecmo Games / Team Ninja
Published By: Square Enix
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

A reimagining of the series' roots, Final Fantasy Origins: Strangers of Paradise raised eyebrows when it was initially revealed. However, technical demos and more trailers released later on have turned the tide towards support for Team Ninja's latest project. Play as Jack Garland in a Nioh-like adventure to “kill Chaos”, a malevolent being that is responsible for the events in the very first Final Fantasy game. Obviously a departure from the main series both in gameplay and presentation, but Strangers of Paradise still has the Final Fantasy DNA fans will surely look for.

9. Triangle Strategy
Release Date: March 4, 2022
Developed By: Square Enix / Artdink
Published By: Square Enix
Platforms: Switch

A Switch exclusive, Triangle Strategy is a spiritual successor to the Final Fantasy Tactics franchise. A turn-based strategy game with RPG elements, you control a band of warriors engulfed in the conflict of Saltiron War and are on a quest to rebuild their fallen Kingdom off a sneaky attack by a rival kingdom. The game is produced by Tomoya Asano of Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler, so expect some strong storytelling and dialogues from this game, as well as mental gymnastics-inducing plot points. If you liked Fire Emblem: Three Houses, it's of your best interests to pick this one up, too.

10. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
Release Date: March 2022
Developed By: Gearbox Software
Published By: 2K Games

Who would have thought that an off-tangent DLC can end up making its own spin-off game? Fans of the Borderlands series will get a fantastic new game this March, thanks to Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. The fantastic part here is that this game is looking to be a lot better than the latest Borderlands 3 game – with a lot of humor and better features and mechanics never before seen in Borderlands games. With looter shooters starting to feel a little bit stale in 2021, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands aims to reinvigorate the genre this 2022.

And that's our list of the top 10 new best games of Q1 2022. What are your most anticipated games from January to March 2022? Did you expect February to be this stacked?
