Bruce Buffer had a very long streak of 25 years come to an end at UFC 267. The octagon announcer was forced out of the event after contracting COVID.

Bruce Buffer considers himself lucky that he had been vaccinated as things could have been much more. Today he's all healed up and ready to return at UFC 268.

“I don’t feel ill effects right now,” the longtime voice of the octagon said Wednesday on The MMA Hour (transcription via MMAFighting). “I feel good and I think my lungs are 100 percent. I’m ready to roar.”

The problem with Bruce Buffer getting COVID is that his lungs are an important part of his job. If he is unable to scream and shout then he would have a big problem.

“That’s one of the biggest fright factors I had,” Bruce Buffer admitted.

“I started feeling it in my lungs and I started coughing and coughing up stuff, like, ‘Oh man, is this going to go where I think it’s going to go?’”

Luckily for him, he's healthy and ready to go at UFC 268. Bruce Buffer will get the opportunity to start a new streak on Saturday.

Bruce Buffer isn't worried that someone will break his streak. 25 years is a very long time.

“Yeah, my Cal Ripken streak is over, in respect to numbered pay-per-views, even though it wasn’t a pay-per-view here in America,” Buffer said. “But you know what? Streaks are meant to be made and streaks are meant to be broken — and I’d like to somebody try and beat that 25-year streak. Good luck to you, my friends. Good luck.”

Bruce Buffer will be back at UFC 268 on Saturday. The card features a main event of Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington.
