The longstanding beef between UFC president Dana White and Nick Diaz looks set to reach its final chapter. Diaz has long been angling to get his shot in the ring in order to complete the final fight of his contract with the UFC. Diaz has not fought since June of 2021 when he was defeated by Leon Edwards at UFC 263, and he didn't make a single appearance in 2020. There was some talk that White was actually blackballing Diaz from getting back into the octagon, but at last, a date has been set for his final fight in the UFC.

White doesn't seem interested in giving Diaz a graceful exit, either. His opponent is none other than Khamzat Chimaev, and the two will face off in the main event on September 10 in Las Vegas, via ESPN MMA.

Chimaev is undefeated in his UFC career, rocking a pristine 11-0-0 record. He's one of the up-and-comers in the sport, and is already making a name for himself in a major way.

His most recent fight was a dominating victory against Gilbert Burns at UFC 273, and now he's in agreement to fight Diaz in September.

Diaz has openly stated in the past that he'd be willing to fight anyone for his final UFC showdown, even going as far as alleging that Chimaev turned down the chance to fight him at UFC 276. That claim was refuted by Chimaev, who had the same accusation for Diaz.

For those unfamiliar with the Chechen MMA star, have a look at how devastating Chimaev is in the octagon.

While Diaz is a UFC legend, it's impossible to deny he's well past his prime. Throughout his career, he owns a 23-10 record, though he's only fought three times since 2016.

The contracts have not been signed yet, but both Chimaev and Diaz have put forth verbal agreements for the fight, and it appears the contracts are only a matter of time.
