Sean O'Malley is a popular fighter to call out when you're a bantamweight in the UFC. That's exactly the route, Chris Gutierrez went with after scoring a huge knockout at UFC Columbus.
Chris Gutierrez didn't just stick with Sean O'Malley though, he wanted to make things count and asked for Frankie Edgar too. UFC Columbus was a big opportunity for him and he made sure to use it wisely.
“I think Frankie Edgar or Sean O’Malley would be a fun fight,” Gutierrez said after UFC Columbus via MMAJunkie. “Whether I get it or not, who knows. Like I said, I can call the shots, but at the end of the day, I’m not the one who really gets to call it. That’s my management team and the coaches’ job. I’m just a fighter, I sign the contract and we go. …We’re all here to climb the ladder, trying to be a world champion. I just think they’re fun fights, stylistically they’d be fun. Not just for me, for the crowd.”
Chris Gutierrez had a huge knockout and the moment came with a big spinning back fist. He made sure his work in the gym came to fruition at UFC Columbus.
“We work that all camp, just mixing it up and throwing something wild like that. But you know, not just wild, it’s my style. It’s how I do it. You know, when you work for something so hard and you finally land it, it’s one of the best feelings ever, you know?”
