Dana White and Fedor Emelianenko have seemingly always been at odds. The Russian was always competing again the UFC and never signed with the promotion.
He competed for UFC rivals Pride FC and Strikeforce. Even when the promotions merged with the UFC, Fedor Emelianenko managed to stay away from the octagon.
2009 was the closest the UFC came to obtaining their white whale. Fedor Emelianenko was no longer in Strikeforce and was figuring out his career.
The deal never materialized and the two sides grew frustrated with each other. Today, Fedor Emelianenko competes in Bellator, the direct competition to Dana White and UFC.
After his win over Tim Johnson, Fedor Emelianenko had some choice words for Dana White.
Article Continues Below“Money means everything to him,” Emelianenko told Russian outlet TASS. “He has no respect towards fighters, no respect for any human being. Only money and that’s all.”
It didn't take very long for Dana White to provide an answer for Fedor.
“First of all, I don’t even know Fedor,” White said at the . “Fedor doesn’t know me. We met one time. His statement was I was all about money — he should have been more about money when we made you that offer wherever the fuck we were, whatever island that was we were on, and you wouldn’t still be fighting at 45 years old.”
Dana White answered in typical Dana White fashion. It's one of fighting's biggest ‘what ifs.'
For now, both sides are content where they are at and this is a situation that will never be resolved.
