Daniel Cormier is the perfect man to give his opinion on a wrestling match between UFC lightweight Islam Makhachev and wrestling legend Jordan Burroughs. Cormier wrestled at a high level and also fought in MMA at the highest level possible.

Islam Makhachev recently tried to call out Jordan Burroughs for a wrestling match. His good friend, former UFC champion Daniel Cormier, got real as he talked about the proposed wrestling match in an interview with MMAFighting.

“Let me tell you something, Islam Makhachev is crazy, I told him I’m like ‘hey, my guy took you down to practice,’ he goes, ‘brother, bring Jordan Burroughs’ like this will be a good match [laughs],” former UFC champion Cormier revealed. “Like he’s so sure of his wrestling. I like, I love Islam, he’s the best fighter in the world in that weight class and his abilities are just second to none but you don’t know what these guys turned into.”

UFC lightweight Islam Makhachev had told Daniel Cormier in the past that he was not worried about Jordan Burroughs' wrestling. The clip surfaced recently on Twitter.

“I respect him but this guys have just double leg, I’m gonna defend his double leg and that’s it,” Makhachev told DC. “He go double leg, everybody defends, he pushes everybody. But in AKA we have wall, he cannot push me.”

The fantasy wrestling match would be very tough to book as Islam Makhachev has a busy schedule in the UFC and Jordan Burroughs has plenty going on. It would still be a lot of fun to watch as Daniel Cormier noted.
