Daniel Cormier is the latest person to react to the news that Jorge Masvidal assaulted Colby Covington outside of the cage. The former UFC champion gave his take recently and he was not pleased with the Cuban fighter.
Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal fought back at UFC 272 where Covington won with a dominant unanimous decision. Daniel Cormier used that while addressing the assault on his ESPN show.
Article Continues Below“Here’s the thing, a lot of these altercations happen prior to fights happening,” Cormier told his co-host, Ryan Clark.
“You have 25 minutes, and this is the only place I’m going to condemn Jorge Masvidal. You had 25 minutes less than two weeks ago to do everything you wanted. It doesn’t seem as though, this was a come face to face, and we get into a fight.”
“This seems a little bit different,” he added. “That’s where it seems off.”
Daniel Cormier is referring to the sucker punch as the thing that seemed ‘off.' Jorge Masvidal wasn't looking to get into a fight with Colby Covington, he was looking to hurt him and get revenge for UFC 272.
There have been UFC fighters in the past that have talked about a lack of satisfaction when there are fights filled with beef like this one. Jorge Masvidal was unable to hurt Colby Covington the way he was hoping to.
