Jamie Pickett had quite the surprising loss at UFC Vegas 48 against Kyle Daukaus on Saturday. He was caught in a d'arce choke but the round was over in a few seconds. All he had to do was try to stay awake.
The North Carolina native found himself forced to tap at the very last second of the round. The finish surprised many UFC fans considering he was almost free with the round literally a second away from ending.
As it turns out, Kyle Daukaus caught Jame Pickett in a very tricky position. The UFC middleweight had his tongue stuck in between his teeth with the pressure being turned up. He felt he had no other choice.
“Hey guys, no excuse from me,” Pickett wrote on his Facebook page. “I did my best for the time I had and didn’t go my way.
“Tongue got caught between my teeth. Felt like I was gonna cut it off so I tapped. I’ll be back but this time with a full training camp.”
Jamie Pickett was stepping in on short notice to face Kyle Daukaus at UFC Vegas 48 after his original opponent pulled out. He'll be hoping to return quickly with a full training camp this time around.
It was a frustrating moment for many Jamie Pickett fans as it felt like he could have held on and went into the second round. Time moves very differently when you have a UFC fighter/Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt choking you out, especially if you're biting down on your tongue.
