Rafael dos Anjos finds himself in a tricky spot after Rafael Fiziev was forced to pull out of their fight at UFC 272. There were talks of Islam Makhachev potentially filling in and facing the Brazilian.
Islam Makhachev is coming off of a big win over Bobby Green at UFC Vegas 49 this past weekend. Many people were impressed with the victory, Rafael dos Anjos was not one of those people.

He went in, collected his check, and walked away. The guy fought two weeks ago. We know how hard it is to get ready, to fight. I don’t want to take any credit from anybody but it is what it is. Bobby Green went there, filled up the hole, saved the card, make his money, that’s it.”
“I don’t think [Makhachev deserves a title shot], to be honest with you,” the former UFC champion continued. “He’s got a 10 [fight] win streak, but look at his résumé. He didn’t fight any top guys, any top contenders. He was supposed to fight Benny [Dariush] but unfortunately Benny got injured. So I don’t think so.”
Rafael dos Anjos is currently expected to take on Renato Moicano at UFC 272 on Saturday, the fight is not yet official but it is in the works. The Brazilian made it clear he was available to step in and if the UFC offered the right amount of money, he would fly to Las Vegas from Brazil.
