Rani Yahya is the latest UFC bantamweight to offer up his name to fight Sean O'Malley. O'Malley has been seen as a big opportunity for anyone that can face him and look good against him.

Rani Yahya is coming off of a win over Kyung Ho Kang at UFC Vegas 43 and wants to capitalize with a big fight. That fight appears to be none other than Sean O'Malley.

Rani Yahya sat down with ClutchPoints and spoke about Sean O'Malley. He believes the UFC are protecting their asset.

“I mean, everybody wants to fight him,” Yahya told ClutchPoints. “Of course there is a lot of hype on him and I think he's a big name. It's a fight that brings visibility, of course. It's a fight that I feel that I can [win]. I feel that I can beat him. I think this Ho Kang guy that I fought, I think he's a better level than O'Malley. I think that if they fought, Ho Kang is very good with takedowns would take him down and beat him up. I think I could do even better than Ho Kang would do against him. I think I can do better than many guys would do with Sean O'Malley. Of course, he is protected by the UFC. I think would make sense even for the UFC to book this fight. Because you see if they want to increase Sean O'Malley's name, I'm probably one of the perfect names that the UFC would throw to him. Because right now I'm a veteran. I mean, I've been fighting for a long time. I'm 37.

“Now they could say ‘hey this is a guy that already has a name, he can manage wins in the UFC, just go and pass through him and make an increase your name under the UFC banner.' So maybe that would be a good thing for UFC if they think that they think that way. Or no, or they think that that I can beat him and they're never gonna make this fight. What I know is that they are kind of taking care of him, let's say like that, taking care. You know, they want to increase his name because we have to admit that guy sells a lot.”

Rani Yahya has not directly spoken with the UFC about the fight. His manager is on the case and will try to book the fight against Sean O'Malley.

The fight could be booked after UFC 269 as Sean O'Malley has stated he doesn't want to fight ranked contenders until he has a new contract. Rani Yahya will be looking to get the fight booked in March should everything go to plan.
