A big mixed martial arts fan, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was tuned in on the blockbuster UFC 261 card on Saturday. His excitement, however, quickly turned to grief after witnessing former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman break his leg in gruesome fashion against opponent Uriah Hall.
The one-time NFL MVP had shocked reaction following the unfortunate UFC 261 incident that had Weidman leave the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida in a stretcher.
Noooooooooo man……

Just as the match began, Weidman threw his first (and what would ultimately be his last) strike of the fight with a pinpoint leg kick. But replays showed that the former MW champ hit Hall right below the knee, causing his leg to break instantly. Making matters worse, Weidman also stepped on that injured leg shortly after, which likely caused more damage.
Here's the disheartening injury in the UFC 261 bout: (warning: extremely graphic)

MMA, of course, is considered the Hurt Business and gnarly injuries are part of it. However, no one deserves to go out like that, especially a decorated veteran like Chris Weidman. Patrick Mahomes understands this and shares his pain.
Weidman's injury is eerily reminiscent of the time Anderson Silva also broke his leg in the same, exact sequence. Shockingly enough, it was Weidman who checked that kick and caused The Spider's injury.
Mahomes, meanwhile, empathizes with Weidman considering he is coming off an injury of his own. But unlike Weidman who has a long road of recovery ahead of him after the UFC 261 fight, Mahomes has healed from his toe surgery and expected to be ready for training camp for the Chiefs next month.
