Holly Holm is used to be being active in her career but 2021 has not been kind to the former UFC champion. She has not fought since October 2020 where she won a dominant decision over Irene Aldana in a UFC main event fight.
Now would have been her opportunity to return as there is a new UFC champion in the bantamweight division. Holly Holm has been on a good run and could have fought Julianna Pena.
Holly Holm is having a hard time not fighting. The former UFC champion detailed her frustration to MMAFighting in a recent interview.
“I’m super frustrated,” the former UFC champion said. “I definitely am on the mend. I hope to be back in there, back training and get back in there. I’m feeling a little better. I had to take care of some things. It’s super frustrating, especially when I see people fighting, especially [Nunes vs. Pena] but all the time.
“Any time I watch the fights, it’s so frustrating cause I want to get in there so badly. I don’t want to embrace not being able to fight but I’ve been very fortunate to have a career where I’ve been pretty active. This last year’s had some stuff that’s been kind of from left field. I’m handling it. I’m going to keep pushing forward. I’m not going to let it break me and I want to be back in there very soon.”
Holly Holm could have some fun fights ahead of her with things being shaken up in the UFC's bantamweight division. She will be hoping to make her big UFC return in 2022.
