Former UFC champ-champ Daniel Cormier has proposed a different way of losing a title fight after seeing Amanda Nunes tap out on Juliana Pena at UFC 269.
Juliana Pena had stunned the MMA world after pulling off an upset submission victory over Amanda Nunes to claim the UFC bantamweight title. Speculations over the truth about Nunes' underperformance swirled afterwards with some claiming the Brazilian actually quit during the fight.
Weighing in on the subject, UFC commentator Daniel Cormier suggested that if Nunes really knew he was losing, she should've “just went to sleep” than tap out on Pena's choke.

ESPN's MMA analyst Chael Sonnen is another former UFC fighter who is certain Nunes did not want to continue fighting Pena. According to Sonnen, Pena's rear-naked choke wasn't the type of choke that can put a champion to sleep, suggesting that Nunes really “quit.”
“This was totally different. Amanda flicked it. That was 100 percent mental beating, zero percent physical,” Sonnen assessed. “That submission wasn’t there.”
“That was not a move. That was absolutely not a fighting technique,” he continued. “Julianna was in a terrible position, and Amanda quit.”
Nunes has accepted that challenge of having an immediate rematch with Pena and UFC president Dana White is all-in for the fight.
