Donald Cerrone is hands down one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time. Although he's never won a belt, the legendary fighter has earned respect amongst his peers and fans. He earned the reputation of taking fights on short notice, which easily made him a fan favorite. However, the future Hall of Famer made a shocking confession when reminiscing on his bout against Conor McGregor.

According to Brett Okamoto, Cerrone had no interest in fighting McGregor back in 2020. He goes into detail about how it was the first time in his career that he didn't want to enter the octagon. From there, the UFC star mentions how he essentially found an exit and took it just so the fight could be over with.

Everyone remembers how that fight went down. The two stars were tangled up when suddenly Conor McGregor threw shoulder strikes. Donald Cerrone fell and the fight quickly ended in favor of McGregor. It was a weird ending, especially considering how much punishment we've seen “Cowboy” Cerrone take throughout his UFC career.

There isn't anything wrong with Cerrone's approach at all. In fact, it's likely a thought process that goes through every professional fighter's mind at some point in their careers. As of now, “Cowboy” is set to face Joe Lauzon on the main card for UFC 274. The winner will likely continue their career while the loser may face retirement once and for all.

We'll see how it plays out, but at 39 years old, Donald Cerrone has nothing left to prove to UFC fans. Perhaps we'll see him win one more before the “Cowboy” rides off into the sunset?
