Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a bit of a second-half collapse on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints after leading 14 to 3 after the first half. Unfortunately for the Bucs, they played well enough in the first three quarters to keep themselves ahead of the NFC South-leading Saints. However, they didn't score in the fourth quarter and allowed the Saints to score 17.
Frustrations grew very high between quarterback Jameis Winston and offensive lineman Ryan Jansen after Jansen was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
According to Tampa Bay Times writer Frank Pastor, Jensen insisted that the situation has blown over and the two players are fine. “We're both competitors out there and coming off a bad play,” Jensen said after the game. “As families, families fight. Me and Jameis are highly competitive guys, and we cleared the air and we're good.”
Winston has never been questioned for his competitive nature even dating back to his Florida State days. The Bucs quarterback has had other off-field/personal issues, but this argument between him and his fellow teammate looks to be strictly having an argument driven by competition. As Jansen suggested, they were fighting as family would and that's typical of players when things aren't going right on the field. Although the quarterback normally argues with receivers or other offensive position players, this was a rarity to see on the sidelines.
The Bucs will look to bounce back next week against the Baltimore Ravens.
