Last Wednesday, Mike Tyson was involved in a physical altercation on an airplane. The former boxer was on a JetBlue flight to San Francisco, sitting in front of Melvin Townsend III. Allegedly, Tyson repeatedly punched the 36-year-old Florida man after he continuously heckled the former fighter.

TMZ posted a video of the incident, which allegedly shows him striking Townsend multiple times. Tyson's representative Joann Mignano released a statement claiming that Townsend verbally harassed him and threw a water bottle before Tyson snapped.

“Unfortunately, Mr. Tyson had an incident on a flight with an aggressive passenger who began harassing him and threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat,” Mignano said in the statement courtesy of CNN.

Regardless of how the incident started, officers detained both passengers at San Francisco International Airport. They were released shortly after, and the incident is pending further investigation.

However, Tyson doesn't seem too concerned about the consequences of his actions or the victim of his punches. Not long after he was escorted off of the airplane, Tyson was cracking up laughing while speaking to someone on his cell phone.

The video, obtained by TMZ, was recorded a little before 11 p.m. on April 20. The news outlet also reports that Tyson posed for a photograph with a fan after exiting the aircraft.

Since this incident, Townsend hired lawyer Matt Morgan of Morgan & Morgan. Although he appears to be the victim of physical assault in this case, Townsend is no stranger to trouble with law enforcement.
