The Golden State Warriors don’t lose often, but they have already picked up two defeats in a span of three games after falling prey to the Los Angeles Clippers on the road Monday night. The Warriors could’ve escaped from Staples Center with a win, though, if only forward Draymond Green gave them a chance.
With the game tied with under 10 seconds remaining in regulation, Green picked up a rebound off of a Lou Williams miss. At that point, the wise thing for Green to do was call a timeout, since the Warriors had two more left to burn. Green, however, was either unaware of that or that he merely wanted to take the last shot himself for a chance to be the hero, as he never called for a timeout. Instead, he took the ball down court and turned the ball over in the process as time expired.
Green’s decision becomes even more questionable when considering the fact that Kevin Durant was on the floor during that stretch. Why didn't Green passed the ball to KD, whose many purposes for the Warriors almost always include that of taking clutch shots in tight situations?
The Clippers would go on to beat Golden State 121-116, with both Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell coming off the bench and scoring 25 and 23 points, respectively.
The Warriors will look to bounce back Tuesday night against the Atlanta Hawks at home.
