The Minnesota Vikings have been getting by without QB1 Kirk Cousins for most of the season after he went down with an Achilles tear in Week 8. Since then, they've gone through several signal-callers, including Josh Dobbs, Jaren Hall, and most recently, Nick Mullens. With Cousins set to miss the rest of the campaign, the Vikings will have a decision to make on him this offseason with the veteran set to hit free agency. But if you're asking star wideout Justin Jefferson, he knows Cousins has done more than enough during his time in Minny to earn a new deal.

“I feel like I really don’t have to voice my opinion that much,” Jefferson said, via Dane Mizutani of the Pioneer Press. “Just look at his play before he went down.”

Jefferson did also say that he will “always give an extra word for Kirko” and believes that Cousins has proven he's the right man for the job in Minnesota, even after the injury. Perhaps the most disappointing part for Cousins is he was putting up career numbers before going on the shelf.

In eight games, he completed 69.5% of his passes for 2,331 yards and 18 touchdowns against five interceptions and still managed to thrive even without Justin Jefferson at times. Cousins was definitely on track to lead the Vikings to the playoffs. But, Minnesota has yet to find a consistent option under center since the injury, shining a light on Cousins' importance.

“I think it goes to show the world the type of player Kirk is,” Jefferson said. “This is a tough league. Not everybody is meant for this job. It's tough not having No. 8 out there.”

The Vikings are 7-8 and face the Green Bay Packers in Week 17.
